Notes for Prospective Students
The IB Diploma Programme is a challenging, two-year curriculum that
results in an IB Diploma which is widely recognized by the world`s
leading colleges and universities. An IB Diploma often allows VVS
students entrance to honors or higher level classes in college. B
students learn to think creatively, globally, and independently all
goals that are congruent with Verde Valley School`s historical
mission. VVS has a rigorous and challenging curriculum including IB
courses in English, Math, Science, Language, and Art. PLEASE NOTE:
Since the IB Diploma Program is a two year curriculum, we can only
accept applicants for grades 9, 10, and 11. Seventy-five percent of
our teaching faculty have advanced degrees. Our faculty are
passionate about teaching here, love to work with kids, and are
experienced masters of teaching. Universities are eager to enroll
our students because they know our students have the tools to
succeed and thrive during their university experience. Nearly all
faculty members live on campus. We engage our students in their
learning through class discussions, hands-on activities and
imaginative assignments. The national forest and spectacular red
rocks surrounding the campus are important parts of our curriculum
and outdoor program. As part of our annual Field Trip program, we
take our students to local areas as well as Native American
Reservations, Central America, Africa, and beyond for 12 days to
learn about other cultures and perform community service within the
selected areas. Each spring we devote 8 days to projects designed
to offer a wide array of learning experiences in a variety of
subjects and skills including: welding, large format photography,
jewelry making, rock climbing, chess, philosophy, canyoneering,
culinary arts, and much more.
