Lincoln Academy is an authentic American High School located in the picturesque coastal town of Newcastle Maine, offering 160+ classes including 20 AP courses and strong programs in STEM and arts.
A non-sectarian private school with a boarding program, LA serves 600 total students including 60 boarding students from 18 countries around the world.

  • Lincoln Academy is a co-educational private boarding and day school for grades 9 - 12 located in beautiful, coastal Maine, one hour from Portland. We are grounded in community, global in vision, and rich in opportunity. We enroll 60 boarding students (maximum of 10 Spanish speakers) from 15+ countries, out of a total school population of 600. Lincoln Academy offers 160+ total classes, including 20 AP courses. We have a maximum class size of 16 and offer a wide range of classes with personalized schedules for each student. Students choose 6 or 7 classes, including English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and lots of electives. Two of our strongest programs are arts and STEM. We offer 34 arts classes including chorus, band, theater, film, ceramics, painting, photography, jewelry making, graphic design, and more. We have a modern STEM center featuring classes like robotics, computer science, hands-on shop classes in wood and metal making, website design, and engineering. Our location is amazing, our campus is an easy 10 minute walk from the lovely and vibrant town of Damariscotta where there are coffee shops, restaurants, stores, and access to the ocean. Students are able to walk down town after school and on the weekends. We also provide trips to the local YMCA (gym), grocery store, and other activities after school. Weekend activities include hiking, kayaking, movies, bowling, firepits on campus, game nights, and other activities with local students. We offer ski trips to local mountains on Thursday evenings as well as weekend days in the winter. All boarding students live in the same dormitory: Kiah Bailey Hall. This comfortable and well-cared for dorm was built 8 years ago. Students live in double rooms (guarantee different languages in each room) and have access to a full kitchen, music room, main lounge with ping pong table, outdoor patio, and small lounges with workout equipment and TVs. There are 6 families that live in the dorm and take care of the students - all dorm families are teachers and have many years of experience. The dorm is divided into 5 wings, and each wing (12 students) share a bathroom and laundry facilities. Each bathroom has 3 sinks, showers, and toilets. Community service is very important in the Lincoln Academy boarding experience. Sports are competitive, particularly soccer, cross country, golf, basketball, wrestling, and tennis. Fall sports: boys soccer, girls soccer, cross country, golf, girls field hockey Winter sports: boys basketball, girls basketball, swimming, wrestling, cheerleading, indoor track & field Spring sports: girls softball, boys baseball, girls tennis, boys tennis, girls lacrosse, boys lacrosse, outdoor track & field We offer 30+ clubs and extracurricular activities. Some of the most popular ones include: debate team, model UN, volleyball, robotics, esports. In 2024, we were the #1 Robotics team in the state of Maine and our one-act play has won the regional competition 16 out of the past 17 years.
