Reflections and Advice:

1.) What do you think makes your school unique relative to other boarding schools?
Storm King is a wonderful second home with a wide assortment of clubs and activities. The school gets students out of their comfort zones with opportunities to get involved with new sports or arts.
2.) What was the best thing that happened to you in boarding school?
I changed so much while I was at Storm King. I started Storm King education in eighth grade and I was very shy. After getting involved with new sports such as soccer, I met so many new and veteran students and became involved with the community. By my senior year, I was president of National Honor Society, lead in the spring musical 2 years in a row, and RA for 2 years.
3.) What might you have done differently during your boarding school experience?
I wouldn’t have done anything differently because I was able to grow so much over my five years at Storm King and it set me up for a successful college life. If I could offer any advice for kids going to boarding school, I would say to get involved as much as possible and do not be afraid to try new things.
4.) What did you like most about your school?
My favorite thing about Storm King was how involved in the performing arts department I was. Through dance classes I was able to build a friendship with my favorite duet partner that is still going strong to this day!
5.) Do you have any final words of wisdom for visiting or incoming students to your school?
My final words of wisdom are: get involved and don’t be afraid to try something new. Never danced before? Never played basketball before? Don’t worry! You will meet new friends and most likely there will be at least one other person who’s in the exact same position.

Academics:

1.) Describe the academics at your school - what did you like most about it?
All of the classes at Storm King are relatively small which allows the students to have individualized learning experiences. Teachers are able to assist students and interact more due too the smaller class sizes.

Athletics:

1.) Describe the athletics at your school - what did you like most about it?
The athletics program is phenomenal and really allows students to dive into sports that they wouldn’t have tried in a different environment. Students are required to participate in team sports which builds a sense of community and it’s a great way to meet people with similar interests.

Art, Music, and Theatre:

1.) Describe the arts program at your school - what did you like most about it?
The Arts Program is phenomenal. I was always finding ways to be involved with the performances whether it was on the stage or backstage. Storm King gives students the tools to grow within the arts and explore all of their passions on stage or behind the scenes.

Extracurricular Opportunities:

1.) Describe the extracurriculars offered at your school - what did you like most about it?
Storm King is dedicated to extracurriculars whether it’s clubs, community service, or activities after classes and on weekends.

Dorm Life:

1.) Describe the dorm life in your school - what did you like most about it?
The dorm life at Storm King was fantastic. The dorms housed around 30 students with 2 dorm parents to help out with any questions or concerns that the student may have. There were also a few RA’s per dorm that the students could talk to as well. From team building activities, dorm meetings, and dorm trips off campus, it was a great way to meet new people and make friends on campus.

Dining:

1.) Describe the dining arrangements at your school.
The dining hall at Storm King is fabulous! Breakfast options are always plentiful and switch throughout the week. Lunch has the most options to make sure there are options for every student from the sandwich bar to the daily selection of hot lunch and a full salad bar. Students are free to sit wherever they choose for each of these meals so they can interact with other students. There are also formal dinners throughout the year where the students wear their formal uniform and eat dinner all together.

Social and Town Life:

1.) Describe the school's town and surrounding area.
Cornwall-On-Hudson is a very safe town with numerous coffee shops, dining options, and more. Storm King is also a short train ride away from New York City and the Palisades mall.
2.) Describe the social life at your school - what did you like most about it?
I loved how Storm King was such a tight knit community with everyone was friends with each other. There was rarely any drama so it was a friendly and welcoming community.
